Alexa has been having dog withdrawals, and therefore, this
last weekend we went to a dog shelter downtown to volunteer working with dogs.
We really just helped walk them around the block which cured Alexa’s
withdrawals for the time being, at least I hope. I'm sure she'll want to do it more than just this once. We will definitely be in the
hunt for getting a dog when we come back home in the next nine months so that
Alexa doesn’t have to have doggie withdrawals anymore. The dog walk was a
lot of fun as we met eight other people who also went to volunteer. I could not
believe it, but five of us were from Washington
State. What are the
chances? I am from Bellingham, Alexa from Yakima, Sarah from Renton
who also went to school in Bellingham, Chris
from Wenatchee, and some other girl that I
cannot remember her name from Walla
Walla. Chris went to Central Washington
University a few years
before we did which is absolutely crazy! Just to put it in perspective, another
person was from South Africa,
one from England, one from Virginia, and I’m
not sure about the other two. The chances of being in a not so well known city
in South Korea and meeting three other people from Washington State, two that
either went to Western or Central, is pretty amazing! I guess Bellingham is becoming quite the popular town
as I have talked to many people that have not only heard of it, but have been
there. They all say that it is an amazing place and wish they could live there.
Therefore, if you live in Bellingham,
consider yourself blessed because it really is a nice place compared to so many
other places.

We are very excited for the next three weeks as we will be
traveling to Seoul,
Busan, and Yeonsu. Next weekend we are going to Seoul
to meet up with a very dear friend that was born and raised here in Korea. We were
extremely blessed to have become friends with her when she studied at Central Washington for one year. The next weekend we are
going to Busan to hang out at the beach for the sand festival. The sand
festival is a major competition where professionals and amateurs come to
compete in who can make the best sand sculptures. The next weekend after that,
we are going to Yeosu to go to the 2012 World Fair. Yes, they still have world
fairs, which I realized out of curiosity when reading about Seattle’s 50th World Fair Anniversary.
I was curious to see if world fair’s still existed, which they do, to find
that this year it is in South
Korea. The world fair theme is marine life
where they have glass tunnels under the sea that allows for observing sea
animals. Therefore, we will blog about our three adventurous weekends when we
return.
